Last Week! Favorite Book Week

Over the next 3 days, we will have a lot of fun in the classroom. We are going to read some of our favorite books from the year, paint, and play games. On Wednesday we will celebrate all of the summer birthdays. Mrs. Veronica will be making ice cream for the students! On Thursday we will have a pizza party and hand out certificates to the students.

I want to thank you for the opportunity to teach your children. They have been a blessing to me! I also want to thank Mrs. Veronica for all of her hard work in the classroom especially for helping the students create some wonderful projects. A special thanks to the parents who volunteered this year in the classroom.

Have a great summer!

God Bless,
Mrs. Mary

Ready for Kindergarten, Week 3

Wow, only two weeks left of school. This week we will be reviewing Alphafriends, math concepts, and reading some great books. We will also be discussing the Rosary, making a Rosary, and watching a children's Rosary.

This Friday, May 22nd we will be having our Family Fun Day. Please plan to spend the morning with your child having a great day with fellow students and teachers. Don't forget to donate $4.oo for the day!

On May 27th we will be celebrating all of the summer birthdays. Thanks in advance to Mrs. Veronica for making homemade ice cream for our party.

I am asking that each family donate $2.00 for a pizza party for Thursday, May 28th, the last day of school. All of the children seem to love pizza so in lieu of lunch, lets have pizza!

If you have any questions, see me in the classroom or call me at the school.

Thanks,
Mrs. Mary

Ready for Kindergarten, Week 2

Happy Mother's Day!

This week in school we will focus on letters W, Y, I, and E. The sounds of these letters can get confused so we will work in large and small groups for clarification.

We are going to work on numbers and writing number 8.

From this point, a lot of review will be the focus of circle time. We will review syllables, rhyming, beginning sounds and blending. We will revisit shapes, numbers 1-10 and oral counting.

In religion, we are talking about May being our Blessed Mother's month. We will be doing our religion page, "We Honor Mary."

Mrs. Veronica will work with children on their Chicka Chicka Boom Boom coconut tree.

On Monday, May 11, we will have our last reading time with the fifth graders. However, in lieu of reading, we will have ice cream and play outside.

If you have any questions about upcoming events or your child's progress, please don't hesitate to call or see me in the class.

Thanks and have a great week.

Mrs. Mary

Ready for Kindergarten, Week 1

First, I would like to thank all the Grandparents who took time last Friday to visit the school. It was a pleasure having you in the classroom.

This week we will begin our last theme "Ready for Kindergarten". We will be on this theme for the next three weeks.

This week we finish learning our Alphafriends. This week's Alphafriend is Keely Kangeroo Kk. After this week, we will concentrate on letters the children are having difficulty recognizing by sight or sound.

We will also review math concepts learned this year and continue writing numbers.

Mrs. Veronica will be working with the children on Mother's Day gifts.

There are many upcoming events for the preschool and school. Please look at the school calendar that went home in the family enevelope. Just a reminder...Mrs. Serpa is asking parents to donate $4.oo each for Family Fun Day on May 22nd. We have a lot of fun that day so please make arrangements to join us.

As always, if you have any questions, please call or visit with me in the classroom.

Thanks and have a great week,

Mrs. Mary

Animals Everywhere, Week 5

We have reached our last week in our animal theme. We have 5 weeks of school left. This week we will concentrate on farm animals. Our Alphafriend is Nyle Noodle Nn. I will work on assessing the children and Veronica is working on a special project for Grandparent's Day. Just a reminder....May 1st is Grandparent's Day at school. We will start with Mass at 8:15. Then pictures will be taken, brunch will be served and then the different classrooms will perform. We will perform around 11:15am with Mrs. C's students.

OLM will host open house May 4th during the day and from 5:30-7:30pm that night. I encourage all of you who have registered your child for kindergarten to go visit the classroom and meet Mrs. Bliss. This gives you a great opportunity to ask questions before summer vacation.

The next 5 weeks will go very quickly. Please, if you have any questions or concerns, call or see me in the classroom. I realize I didn't post the up-coming events in the classroom yet. I will do that this week.

Have a great week,
Mrs. Mary

Animals Everywhere, Week 4

Welcome back everyone. I hope your Easter break was relaxing and fun. If you can believe it, we only have 6 weeks of school left. Time will fly as we have many school functions coming up. I will post a list of dates to remember in the classroom. Please review these dates.

This week we will be continuing our animal theme with reptiles and insects. If you would like to bring in your pet, we have two more weeks to sign-up. The sign-up sheet is posted in the classroom.

Our Alphafriend is Larry Lion Ll. I will be working with the children on blending sounds to make words. We will also review numbers 1-10 for recognition and writing. Our craft this week will be ladybugs.

I will begin end-of-the-year assessments in two weeks. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's progress, please talk to me immediately. Please, if you plan to have your child attend OLM Kindergarten, register as soon as possible. We only have one class and it fills up quickly.

I want to extend a special thanks to all those who helped on Holy Thursday. We had a wonderful Easter celebration.

Have a great week,

Mrs. Mary

Holy Week

This Holy Week we will stop our Animal theme until we get back from vacation. We will concentrate on what happens this week in church especially on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter. On Thursday we will be having a prayer service with Miss C.'s classroom. The teachers wash the children's feet as Christ washed His apostles' feet. It is a very moving experience every year for all of us.

We will also have our Easter celebration on Thursday. There is a sign-up sheet for items we need that day in the classroom.

Just a reminder...we are closing the school by 12:30 on Thursday. There is no daycare or extended care that day.

When we return on the 20th, we will resume our animal theme for two more weeks.

I pray that all of you have a very Blessed Easter!

Mrs. Mary
